Hard Rain Ghost Perry 2020. Made from the second pressing of three different French perry pears (Longbois, Faussett & Antricotin), that were hand-picked in late November from Throne Farm, Weobley, Herefordshire. It’s a Little Pomona interpretation of the historic drink ciderkin (also known as ‘small cider’) but made with pears – or as they call it, a ‘perrykin’! The pomace was left to ferment spontaneously in two barrels, both of which still contained the lees from some fermented damson plum juice. With its gorgeous, pale, translucent pink colour, it truly does look supernatural, the very ghost of the pears and damsons that went before it. It pours with a lively sparkle, & carries strawberry ice cream aromatics straight up the nose! In the mouth, it’s bright and fresh with damsons & blackberry, although delicately so, while hitting all the high notes in the refreshment chorus!
