Patrons 5.03 Ingleborough. For our second collaboration with Bissel Brothers, their head brewer Noah wished to take a classic British style and enhance it in some manner. We saw an opportunity to add to our series of ABV-defying light beers in the Ricky Lightfoot series of Patron Projects. We started with a low strength porter and set about building a level of flavour expected of an imperial version. The grist is complex, with plenty of oats and wheat, plus Munich, Chocolate and layers of Crystal malts. We added lactose for mouthfeel and a touch of vanilla to complement it. We gave the wort an extended boil for extra evaporation and caramelisation and chose a low attenuating English yeast. The results should defy what is expected of a session strength porter.
