Bock

Bock beer is a traditional German lager. It is characterised by a deep amber to dark brown colour, often with a clear, smooth appearance. The malt profile is the star of the show, with prominent notes of toasted bread, caramel, toffee, and sometimes even dark fruit flavors like plum or raisin. Bocks are generally low in hop bitterness, allowing the malt sweetness to shine through, while the finish is smooth and slightly warming due to the higher alcohol content. The mouthfeel is often full-bodied and smooth, with a clean lager finish. Bock beers come in various substyles, including the lighter “Maibock” and the darker, more robust “Doppelbock,” but all share the hallmark of being rich, malty, and hearty brews perfect for colder weather.
