Beer, the perfect valentines gift for him or her. Forget the champagne this Valentine’s Day. Beer can be the perfect gift for your partner and ideal for a romantic night in. To give you some ideas we have highlighted beers perfect to pair with food, but check out the website for more options.
The Kernel – Biere De Saison Mandarina Bavaria/Centennial
From an impeccable series, the understated Kernel have created two new dry, complex and incredibly drinkable Saisons. A change in dry hop additions isn’t the only difference with these beers. Mandarina Bavaria spent time in Burgundy wine barrels while the Centennial aged in Tuscan red wine. In both instances the barrels add a light tannic fruit quality which is unique to each beer.
Perfect with most dishes but lending itself well to earthy mushroom and strong cheeses.
Brew By Numbers – Bacchus Blonde Ale
A masterclass in blending. Brew By Numbers take a simple blonde ale and do incredible things with it. First hopping with citrusy and grape like hops Hallertau Blanc and Huell Melon, adding a touch of grapefruit zest, then fermenting with their own house Saison yeast. Half of the brew was then aged in wine barrels while the other conditioned with Brettanomyces. After six months the portions are blended together. Zesty top notes, dry yeast flavour and deep funky earthy Brett character all working in harmony.
Again perfect with most food with the citrus notes matching it well with fish dishes.
3 Fonteinen – Hommage Bio Frambozen Blend 60
Hommage is the most highly rated and revered beers we have in stock. 3 Fonteinen are one of the best Lambic producers and Hommage is their show piece. A literal homage to the current brewers father the late Gaston Debelder founder of 3 Fonteinen.
Hand picked raspberries and whole sour cherries are macerated in Lambic for six months. With a huge percentage of fruit used per litre, each barrel created is then blended for the best result. In this special batch local honey is also added.
Expect a huge fruit punch with unbelievable depth, sweet, savoury and sour all at the same time. A perfect interplay of funk, red fruit, honey and acidity and a unique and thoughtful gift idea for the beer connoisseur. Drink with a funky cheese board.
Wild Beer – Wineybeest
Now for dessert. Starting life as Wildebeest this imperial stout, as the name suggests, has been aged in Burgundy Pinot Noir barrels for nine months. A rich espresso character remains from the base beer, along with chocolate and vanilla deepened by ageing, intertwined with red wine acidity and fruit elements.
An exclusive gift as only 500 bottles were produced. Pair with chocolate and a post meal espresso.
We hope this presents beer as the perfect valentines gift for him or her.
